Why we need your help
Aidlink has been hit hard by pandemic lockdown restrictions. As an office, we rely on fundraising and donations the public entrusts us with. In a typical year, we host several physical events – events which can’t go ahead this year. We’re pivoting and focusing our attention on digital, but it’s tough.
For the vulnerable people we serve in Kenya and Uganda, the picture is stark. It’s not the COVID-19 virus itself that’s causing problems; it’s the lockdowns and other mitigation measures governments have put in place. So many children are out of school, but unlike here in Ireland, the children we work for might never return to school. Parents have lost jobs, and the price of food has gone up.
It’s a worrying time. The vulnerable people we serve need us more than ever but never has Aidlink’s own situation been so fragile.
